Obituary of Evelyn Alice Spellman

EVELYN SPELLMAN Evelyn Spellman passed away peacefully at age 89 in the home she helped build and lived in for almost seventy years. She was born on July 22, 1925 in Camas, Washington and grew up there. She attended Camas High School and resided in Camas all her life, with the exception of a couple of years when she moved to Mountain Home, Idaho; Biloxi, Mississippi; and Seattle while her first husband, Bob, was in the Air Force. Evelyn was a beloved mother to her children Bob, Lynn, Jeff and Mike; along with many others whom she considered her kids. She was a cherished grandmother to Danner, Amber, Amy and numerous others whom she held closely in her heart as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a much loved sister to James Franseth, sister-in-law to James Hurley sister, Beverly Hurley preceded her in death and adored aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was "Mom" to many of her children's friends and to children she for whom she had baby-sat, and "Grandma" to their children. Evelyn also had many friends whom she loved dearly and with whom she enjoyed spending time. Evelyn worked in many grocery and retail stores throughout her life, eventually managing Farrell and Eddy Department Store in Camas for the Farrell family until they closed its doors in 1998. Evelyn was devoted to and loved her Lord deeply. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church all of her life where she was active in Sunday School, committees, women's groups, bible studies and faithful worship. A memorial service for Evelyn will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Camas on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements.
