STEVE HAUNREITER January 10, 1944 ~ August 16, 2014 Steve Haunreiter of Camas, WA was born in Seattle, WA. He graduated from Edmonds High School in 1962, and studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Washington. At this time he met his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary Bruce. In 1968, Steve moved from Edmonds to Camas to start a career at Crown Zellerbach Paper Company. There he was a process engineer, project engineer and pulp mill superintendent. He retired from Georgia Pacific after a distinguished career of 40 years. Steve and Mary raised their three sons in Camas, as well as eight Vietnamese children that he loved as his own. In 1996, they built their dream home along the Little Washougal River in Fern Prairie, which has served as a gathering place for their many children and grandchildren. Steve was a community volunteer, and his life was focused on service to others. He was Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 565 in Camas for over 20 years, and was recognized with the Presidential Scout Master award of merit, as well as the prestigious Silver Beaver award. Steve served as an active member of the Camas Lions Club, and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow for dedicated humanitarian services. Steve was also the President of Camp Currie, a youth camp serving the Clark County community. An avid outdoorsman, Steve enjoyed road biking, especially with his sons and daughters. Steve spent his last day doing what he loved, biking with some of his children. Steve is survived by his wife, Mary; his ten sons and their wives, Kurt and Raquel, Erik and Rachel, Bruce and Laura, Duc and Huong, Trong and Trang, Hoang and Mai, Nhat and Tam Phuc, Cong and Susana, Chinh and Hong, Long and Megan, and his daughter Ngoc; as well as 21 grandchildren.
