Obituary of Shirley Colleen Tacheron

SHIRLEY C. TACHERON
Shirley Colleen Smith Tacheron was born on October 23, 1928 to Henry and Jeannette Smith in San Pedro, California.
She grew up in Coos Bay, Oregon, and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1946. She then attended OSU where she found the love of her life, Robert George Tacheron. They were married October 6, 1949. After college they made their first home in San Diego, were Bob was a Naval Contractor, and Shirley was a secretary.
In 1952 they moved to Camas, Washington where she raised her family. She worked for the Camas School District for 25 years as a principle secretary. Shirley loved life and enjoyed many activities. She was a Campfire Girl leader for many years, an active PEO member for 50+ years, and active member of St. Johns Presbyterian Church. Additionally, Shirley was an active member Osprey walking group, and Oregon Bell Association. She enjoyed bird watching, hiking, camping, gardening, cooking and collecting glass baskets. The true joy of her life was when she was surrounded by her family and friends.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, Henry and Jeannette Smith, and her cousin, Janice Smith Edmondson. She is survived by her brother, Clayton Kim Smith and their four children, Barry Julie Smith, Jill Smith, Ethan Heather Smith, Nicole Marty Hecock, her sister-in-law Metta Tacheron, as well as her own four children, Renne Jeff Lann, Nancy Grant Miller, Paul Lucy Tacheron, and Guy Veronica Tacheron. Her ten grandchildren include Sarah Langan, Rebecca Dan Reynolds, Emily Lann, Amy Aaron Reimer, Matt Shelley Miller, Karlee Taylor Kerr, Leja Tacheron, Robert Tacheron, Anneliese Tacheron, and Isabelle Tacheron. She had numerous other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM at St. John's Presbyterian Church in Camas. Burial was at the Coos River Cemetery in Coos Bay, OR on Sunday, August 3, 2014.
