KIRK DOUGLAS STROBECK
I'm looking forward to the day when I can bask in your warm and welcoming smile once again. Enjoy the view from above, my friend.
Kirk Douglas Strobeck was born on August 11, 1960, in Portland, Oregon. He died August 15, 2010, doing what he loved best – racing the wind near the mountain. Kirk was a founding member of the CRB Motorcycle club. His last day was spent at his surprise 50th birthday with many friends and family who loved him. He was riding high on life at the time of his passing.
He is survived by his mother Jacqueline Strobeck, father Francis Strobeck step-mother Linda Strobeck, brother and sister in-law Kim and Taree Strobeck, sister Julie Strobeck, nephews David and Chris, long-time companion Alison Meyer, as well as many extended family and friends.
To say what Kirk was about in a short paragraph is impossible. A series of novels would only begin to skim the surface of his wit, passion for life, and compassion for all others. He was his own cooking network. He loved to create new recipes but could never pass up a chance to have tacos. To those that knew him, motorcycles and Kirk Strobeck were essentially the same word. He was a consummate outdoorsman and lover of nature and animals. His contagious zest for life, huge heart and inexhaustible expressions and energy extended to all he encountered. He was known for his laughter, his devotion and loyalty to friends and family alike. His mentoring of so many young lives will be remembered always. "Kirk stories" will be shared and cherished at a rustic cabin they called "the shack" as long as it stands.
He would seek out his friends during slow moments to quicken the time; he filled each day to the end & beyond. Each evening he and Alison, his longtime companion and best friend, spent their time talking, watching their favorite shows and playing with the many "furry children" they fostered or owned. Friends kidded him that he watched too many chick flicks, he didn't care…Whatever made Alison happy made him happy – it was just the way he was…and lets not forget the tacos. He enjoyed a special relationship with his mother Jackie who enjoyed feeding him while he helped her with projects around the house. They also shared many of the same interests. His brother Kim was not only his riding partner and brother but his best friend as well.
His time with us ended 40 years too soon. We looked forward to hearing him complain about "that loud music kids play today!" But he hadn't located the volume down portion on his stereo, or his life. Kirk, we miss you but feel your persona in all we do. We love you Kirk. See you on the other side…
