In my memories of Wappingers from 7th grade to graduation Mr. Beverly will always stand above all others because he cared about every student. He could be tough, but behind it was a big heart. I have to believe I'm a better person because of him. The world needs more Dave Beverly's. Class of 64

Brynne, Karen and Beth, my sincere condolences on the loss of your Dad. Uncle Dave was a heck of a guy and I loved him very much. I remember him as a small child when he and Uncle Howard would delight in scrubbing the skin off of mine and Jimmy's face before sitting down to lunch. I remember he and I running my electric train together, him with my RR hat on. In later years I used to call him "The Coach" or "Gunny Beverly" kidding him about always being competetive even to the point of who could eat the most raw oysters. He reminded me a great deal of Granddad in his demeanor and his unwaivering stand on things he believed strongly in. He is the last of my Uncles and Aunts and I will miss seeing him on trips to the beach. Goodbye Coach, the last basket has been sunk and the buzzer has sounded! Robert Lee.

I have known Dave since 1971 when I first taught Sciennce at Wappingers J.H.S. He was a leader, an administrator who took your side and a great guy. I reconnected with Dave after his retirement in 2003 when I looked him up in Myrtle Beach. We played golf @ 1-2 times a month and always enjoyed his company. He will be missed. I always looked forward to his stories about his days in the Wappingers District.
He and I ware partners in the local
Senior golf league he played in known as the "All Stars".

Brynne, Karen & Beth,
I have fond memories of your dad, especially that summer long ago when I came to visit... he took us into the city to see the Empire State Bldg and Statue of Liberty; and to that huge amusement park! Your Aunt Nell always spoke so lovingly of him and "you girls". May God's grace help you all through this difficult time and I will keep you in my prayers.
Love, Debi

What a great person and someone who made the Wappingers Junior High School special. I remember my first day of 7th grade, this little kid lost in the hall, and Mr. Beverly spotting me, "What's the matter Mr. Schatzle!"
Another time, a teacher who disliked my Dad sent me to the principal's office for no reason; I explained that and Mr. Beverly smiled softly and in that Southern drawl said, "Well, you head back to class. This'll be our secret." Just a great person whom everyone in our family, especially my Dad, thought the world of.

Which I never knew, it surely figures that such a great guy was a decorated World War II veteran!
