Obituary of Janice Marlene Brown-Boehm

JANICE M. BROWN-BOEHM Janice Brown-Boehm, age 69, passed away September 7, 2009 in Portland, OR. She was born on October 4, 1939 in Pendleton, OR to Irwin and Blanche Drake. They moved to Washougal in 1940 and Janice would graduate from Washougal High School. She married Ed Allen, Jr. and would later get divorced. Janice worked at the Camas/Washougal Post Record and married Lynn Brown in 1970. Together they owned Brown's Chevron in Camas and in 1986, Lynn passed away. Janice continued to operate the gas station and in 1993 she was named Business Person of the Year. That same year she married Alvin Boehm. Janice and Alvin remodeled a few buildings in Camas including the Dairy Queen and Sprouse Reitz. In 1998 she sold the gas station and retired. She and Alvin spent their time between their home in Vancouver and their home in Chinook, WA. She loved to travel. She also loved the beach and entertaining at their home there. Janice was also an active member at Zion Lutheran Church in Camas. She is survived by her husband, Alvin, at home; children, Ed Allen, III of Portland, Bonnie Allen of Washougal; step-children, Laura Kohler of Longview, Ruth Ladage of Washougal, Russell Boehm of Washougal, Christine Youngren of Cook, WA, Sandra Boehm of Washougal; brothers, Bob Drake of Vancouver, Mark Schell of Libby, MT; sister, Lean Barlow of Camas; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A celebration of Janice's life will be held Monday, September 14 at 11am at Zion Lutheran Church in Camas. Inurnment will be private at the Camas Cemetery. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations can be given to either Zion Lutheran Church in Camas or the American Lung Association of Washington @ 2625 Third Ave., Seattle, WA 98121-1200.
