Obituary of Lorraine Helen Grable

Lorraine H. Grable Lorraine Helen Grable, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a lifelong Camas resident died Friday, October 31, 2008 at age 72. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 48 years, Raymond â??Billâ?? Grable, in 2003. Lorraine was born July 7, 1936, the youngest of four children of Kenneth â??Redâ?? and Katherine Weidman. She is survived by her five children, Ken Karin, Bill Janice, Katherine, Tom Kim and Rusty Sondra Grable, all of Camas; grandchildren Anthony Charlene, Jeffrey, Joel, Clinton, Breanna, Britany, Ryan and Nick; great grandchildren Anthony, Gavin and Hailey; devoted sister Barbara Krout; over 100 nieces, nephews and cousins and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth â??Budâ?? Wiedman and sister Cecelia Margeson. Lorraine was known throughout the community of Camas for her many years of involvement in Camas-Washougal Little League and Babe Ruth baseball, and over 50 years in bowling. She and her husband Bill managed both Forest Home and Louis Bloch baseball fields for several years and Lorraine held positions of director and secretary of numerous bowling leagues at RiverSide Bowl in Camas and Hazel Dell, Crosley and Baileyâ??s Lanes in Vancouver. She was inducted into the SW Washington Babe Ruth Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Clark County Bowling Association Womenâ??s Hall of Fame in 1999. Both she and Bill were longstanding members of the Camas Moose Lodge and the AWPPW Local 5. Lorraine was also a talented seamstress, who along with her sisters would recreate the elaborate wedding gowns they saw in the shops of Portland for the brides-to-be of Camas. She looked forward each year to dressing up for Halloween and was famous for her hilarious costumes. She loved people and was devoted to her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service for Lorraine will be held Friday, November 7, at 1 p.m. at Grace Foursquare Church, 717 SE Everett Street, Camas, followed by a graveside service at Camas Cemetery. A celebration of life reception will be held immediately following the burial at the AWPPW Local 5 Union Hall, 514 NE Dallas Street, Camas. Visitation will be Thursday, November 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Straubâ??s Funeral Home in Camas. To send condolences to the family, visit www.straubsfuneralhome.com.
