Obituary of Mary Anna Brye

Mary Anna Grannis Brye Mary Anna Brye, of Washougal, passed away October 10, 2007 in Vancouver at the age of 77. She was born June 22, 1930 in Clatskanie, OR to Fred and Rose Grannis. After graduating from high school in 1948 she went to Oregon State University. She returned to Clatskanie to teach business education and office practices. Mary Anna later taught at Parkrose Senior High School for a number of years. In 1961 she married William ?Bud? Brye and would retire to raise their two children. Mary Anna was an accomplished oil painter, quilter, cook and knitter. She also enjoyed fishing with her husband. After her children were grown she worked at a quilt shop and a veterinarian hospital until her health forced her to quit and return to volunteer part time. She is survived by her husband, Bud at home; son, Daniel Brye of Orchards; daughter Heidi Brye of Vancouver; brother, Fred Grannis of Lebanon, OR; grandson, Gabriel Brye of Vancouver and numerous nieces and nephews. An evening vigil service will be Tuesday, October 16 at 6:30 PM at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas. A funeral mass will follow on Wednesday, October 17 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas. Straub?s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be given to either St. Thomas Catholic Church @ 324 NE Oak St. Camas, WA98607 or the Ray Hickey Hospice House @ 2112 E. Mill Plain Blvd. Vancouver, WA 98661.
