Obituary of Joan Walker Dunkin

Joan W. Dunkin, 74, of Vancouver, WA died in her home on August 20, 2007. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she lived in Chicago, Illinois, Austin, Texas, White Plains, N.Y. and Atlanta, Georgia before moving to Vancouver in 2005. Joan graduated from the Wharton School of Business with an MBA in 1960, one of only four women in her graduating class. Joan spent most of her career at IBM as a systems analyst. In 1965 she married James Randall Dunkin and together they raised five children. Seventeen years ago, after raising their children, she and Jim took responsibility for raising two grandchildren, Michael Kroner and Dylan Gorman. She is survived by her children, Roxanne Hatcher Frato, Carol Connor, Susan Dunkin, William A. Dunkin II, and Ann Dunkin; six grandchildren, Sean Conner, 25, James Conner, 23, Michael Kroner, 21, Dylan Gorman, 15, Laura Pellegrini, 14 and Abigail Dunkin, 10; her brother-in-law, David Dunkin; her cousin, La Donna Dunkin and six nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004. A memorial service will be held at Straub Funeral Home in Camas, Washington on Friday, August 24th at 2pm. Funeral services will be held in St. Louis, Mo. Viewing will be at Calcaterra Funeral Home from 3-5pm on Tuesday, August 28th with a grave-side service on Wednesday, August 29th at 11am at Sunset Memorial Park. She will be laid to rest next to her husband.
