DONALD GLENN FRENCH Donald French, 79, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 1, 2007. He was born August 2, 1927 in Pan Pedro, CA. He grew up in Southern California and later joined the Merchant Marines. He was then drafted into the Army where he served as a paratrooper with the occupying forces in Japan. He returned to California and married Joan Steele on April 22, 1950. Donald worked as a cabinet maker and when the moved to Fern Prairie in 1969 he continued building cabinets out of his own shop. In 1979 they moved to Washougal. Mr. French would later work maintenance for the Camas School District for 17 years retiring in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, doing jigsaw puzzles and riding his four-wheeler. He is survived by his wife, Joan, at home; children, Jeff and Dave both of Washougal, Steve of Camas; Donna Dombek of Battle Ground; sisters, Helen Garcia of Ft. Jones, CA, Marilyn Nickeson of Vancouver, WA; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A celebration of Donald?s life will be held Saturday, May 12 from 1-4pm at the family?s home in Washougal.
