Obituary of Memya T. Hinrichs

MEMYA T. HINRICHS Memya Hinrichs, of Washougal, passed away February 3, 2007 at home at the age of 79. She was born September 27, 1927 in Portland, OR. She attended Lewis & Clark College and went on to receive her master?s degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Memya married Delmer Hinrichs in September of 1956 in Portland. She worked as a Supervisor for Child Welfare for the State of Oregon before retiring in 1958 to become a full time homemaker. They moved to Washougal in 1958 and Memya kept active in the Native American Art Council serving as it?s President. She enjoyed international traveling and cooking. She is survived by her husband, Delmer, at home; children, Brent Hinrichs of Portland, Tessa Hinrichs of Portland, Steffani Dubats and her husband, David of Eugene, Dina Metz and her husband Carl of Crystal Lake, IL; grandchildren, Trevor & Taylor Bjelke, Brian Dubats, Eddie, Lucy and Ernie Metz. A private graveside service will be held at Riverview Abbey Mausoleum in Portland. Straub?s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.
