Dorothy I. Van De vort Dorothy Van De vort, of Vancouver, passed away January 17, 2007 in Vancouver at the age of 85. She was born March 10, 1921 in Nebraska and was raised in Colorado. In 1952 she married Merle E. Van De vort and they made their home in Olympia. They later moved to Yakima and Dorothy worked as an office manager for a gas company. Dorothy and Merle would spend winter in Phoenix and in 1987 they moved to Washougal. Merle passed away in 1989 and Dorothy later moved to Vancouver. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, and go camping and traveling. She is survived by her step-daughters, Muriel DeLong of Camas, Susan Vandenbrink of Huntington Beach, CA, Carol Varner of Phoenix, AZ; niece, Barbara Cooper of California; nephew, David Weiss of California; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. At her request there will be no public services. Her ashes will be inurned at the Sumner Cemetery in Sumner, WA.
