DAVID HOWARD SCOTT
David Scott, of Astoria, OR, passed away January 15 in Portland, OR. He was born April 21, 1944 in Port Townsend, WA. He was adopted by Wayne & Rzella Scott and was raised in Camas and attended the Camas First Christian Church. David graduated from Camas High School in 1963 and briefly served in the Air Force before he was medically discharged. He then moved to Lexington, KY where he went to work at the Trane Heating Factory and later went to school at Milligan College in Tennessee and Johnson Bible College in Knoxville. In 1970 David moved to Nashville where he lived for 14 years and went into business making stage wear clothing. He outfitted, among others, Merle Haggard. David returned to Camas in 1983 and then moved to the Oregon Coast in 1986. He worked as the co-project manager of the Tillamook Manpower Crew until moving to Astoria in 1991. There he became a member of the Astoria Christian Church where he directed a musical ensemble. His life was his church and his music.
He is survived by his sister, Sally Mueller of Washougal; niece Brenda Hubbard; nephew Raymond Whitten; and cousins, David P. Scott of Camas, Dennis Scott of Washougal and various other cousins.
A graveside service will be Friday, January 26 at 2pm at the Camas Cemetery. Straub?s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements.
