Obituary of Margaret G. Orr
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Grace Orr was born on March 27, 1918 in Huntington Park, California. She passed away on January 14, 2007 in Vancouver, Washington.
Margaret was married in June, 1939 to Andrew W. Orr. She attended St. Matthias Catholic Elementary School and Huntington Park High School.
She and Andrew were married for 57 years and raised a family of ten children in Southern California. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and spent most of her time and energy managing a house full of ten children and all of their friends.
Her husband, Andy, died in January, 1997. In her later years, she lived with her devoted daughter, Grace Ann, who was the principal caregiver for both Mom and Dad for over 32 years. Margaret loved to read and write poetry and, in fact, created a short anthology of her poems, most of which spoke of her deep faith in Jesus Christ and His mother, Mary.
Margaret and Grace Ann moved to Vancouver, Washington in July, 2006 and lived together at Fisher's Landing Assisted Living. Unfortunately, her stay in Washington was brief, but she seemed to really relish the beauty of the area and the comfort of her new surroundings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; sons, Patrick and Thomas and one sister and two brothers.
She is survived by her eight children, Marie Campbell and Theresa Matthews both of Banning, CA, Michael Orr of Battle Ground, WA, Grace Ann Simington of Vancouver, WA, Howard Orr of Reno, NV, Edward Orr of San Andreas, CA, Margaret Rice of Vienna, MO and Helen Sentesy of Camas, WA; and numerous grand and great grandchildren.
A rosary service will be Thursday, Janaury18 at 6pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas. A funeral mass will be Friday at 10:30am at the church. Burial will take place at the Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach, CA. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Straub?s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas.
