I really only knew Arnold for a few years and only saw him when we worked on his taxes but I really enjoyed his big smile and big heart. I enjoyed the way he and Shirley teased each other during our appointments. I just wanted Shirley, Dave V and the rest of the family that I was saddened when I learned of his passing and I wish you all well.
Sincerely,
Dave Moreland

some people come into your lives when you most need them. i first heard of the "benson\'s" from my pal vickie davis. when i did finally meet them they were exactly what i expected and more.they had respect for each others families and the strength to cohese the two together. arnold had amazing physical strength, but was also aware of his weaknesses. he had agreat love of life, sense of humor and love for shirley. i remember being in their kitchen on samish island and arnold cooking breakfast and being funny. he was also my book pal, i think i have sent him a small library for his vancouver house. i will miss him and feel this void for my norweigen friend for the rest of my days. take care of shirley.

arnold benson "THE BIG NORWEIGAN" many thoughts, for many years. big man, big integrity, big love for shirley and his family. big on responsibility, can do attitude. never wasted time or shirked a job that had to be done. he had a dry sense of humor. very analytical. He always looked like he had just stepped out of the shower, he shone. i will miss his steady ways and sense of humor. take care shirley we will be here.

I had the pleasure of attending more than one family event with Arnold. While I did not know him well, it is his warm smile and twinkling eyes that I remember clearly. I also recall cracking crab with Arnold in your garage and laughing while we worked in preparation for the family crab feed. I?m sure he will be missed deeply. My thoughts are with you all and Michael, you much like your Father, are greatly loved and respected. I couldn?t have asked for a better Uncle.

To Shirley and all Arnold\'s Family;
Please accept my deepest condolences. Arnold only touched my life briefly, but the effect has lasted a very long time. He brought me in to the Forming and Shoring business. He scared the daylights out of me when I first met him, but I came to realize beneath the gruff exterior was a very intelligent and fine man. He was a friend and a Mentor. He will be missed.

shirley and family,
arnold was one of the nicest guys i have ever been around. i knew of arnold because we were both in the construction trade, but never reaaly met until aluma bought burke. the highest compliment i could ever give someone is they are a professional at what they do..arnold was a professional, he made shoring look so easy, until you tried to lay out a job on your own. he was the answer man and the guy you went to if you had a shoring problem.
i will never forget the time we went to phionix az., for a manqgers meeting. arnold, leroy denwitte and i stayed over two days and played golf and had a great time.
i know you will miss him terribly, he was a great guy.
god bless you all.

Prayer~
Our prayers are with you and the family. It was an honor to know Arnold and how he brought a wonderful son into this world that the Edmundson\'s were blessed with.
Mike you have been a huge support for this family. Arnold passes to the other side being very proud of a good nature spirited son he was a part of. A son that has a heart of gold and giving heart. A spirit that is always looking and laughing to see the good in others. A mind of wisdom and seeking to hear others to learn from. All around beautiful spirit. That was Arnold your Father too.
Arnold\'s kindred spirit will be with you, I am happy and grateful that you are my brother in law and wonderful Uncle to my children. We mention your name and you bring a smile to our face, just seeing your big ole grin with the twinkle that you saw in your dad bring smiles. Now your Father rests and is in no more pain and will be with you in many different ways.
We love you lot\'s!!Big hugs to you...the family~

MY DAD!!!!
What an amazing, brave, kind man. I always knew what kind of man my dad was but in his last week alive he showed us all that he was beyond brave and kind to everyone. No matter what! Dad\'s stay in the hospital was much longer than expected but the nurses all loved Dad and tried to make him as comfortable as possible. It was easy for them, Dad always had a kind thing to say or made a chuckle followed by his smile. Dad always thought of others first and how to make things easier for them and was always appreciative of help. I am so thankful for the last week Dad had at home, he was beyond comfortable in his big marshmallow of a bed. When the ambulance drivers put him on it and he sunk in he thought he was already on a cloud. Dad NEVER complained, he was glad to be at home. My mom has also been steadfast in her promise to Dad that she would be there til the end, she did it. I\'m proud of her. My brother Michael and his wife Joline were here and helped SOOOO much, I don\'t think I could of made it thru it without them. After Dad had passed, within minutes the rest of the family was there to say their goodbyes.....the most special thing was the prayer that my husband Randy shared. He reminded us how God-like my Dad was. He was a natural Christian living his life by natural bible laws without being formally taught. He lived by his heart and that\'s why so many people love my Dad. We haven\'t found an enemy yet. Dad, I miss you beyond words, I love you so much!

I always referred to my Father-in-law as PaPa Bear, and he was truley a gental giant.I\'ll never forget the twinkle in his eye as he ribbed Michael, even to the endwhere\'s my apples!.I\'ll also never forget the look he gave me when I stole points from him at cribbage! He was pure sweetness under a gruff & imposing exterior, but the twinkle always gave him away.
I feel priviledged to have known him & had him as my Father-in-law and ever so lucky that the nut Michael didn\'t fall very far from that tree!Love you always Papa Bear......Joline

I send my condolences to the family. I was born and raised just north of the Family home on the Avon-Allen Road. Son of Maurice and Elaine Richards when the Allen School is now located.
Graduated in 1953 from Burlington Edison High School. Remember Arnold well from high school days. Also know this second wifes family. I didn\'t know Arnolds children, but, know that they loved him very much. We also know that he with his heavenly Father now and has no more pain. May he enjoy the Streets of Gold.

Tracey,
Sorry to here about your fathers passing. Our hearts and thoughts are with you at this time. Just remember he\'s in a better place now , without any pain. I know how you feel, my Dad dies Apr. 2005, before he could see Brook\'s graduate. I think of him often. Time is the only thing that can heal you. But still you think of him often. He was a great father and very commited grandpa to his gradson\'s , that I saw. I\'m so sorry of your loss. May you and your Mother be comforted by one another. May God bless you and keep you in his tender care.
