William Dennis Mason
Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, Thursday, December 14, 2006 in Vancouver, WA. He was 80 years old. He was born to Edward Leslie and Mary Jane Sheppard on July 6,1926 in Flatrock, KY.
From 1944 to 1947, Bill served in Panama in the army as a sergeant. In 1951, he fell in love with Mary McNett and tied the knot on September 8. They just celebrated 55 years of marriage! From 1950 until his early retirement in 1986, he worked as a millwright for Crown Zellerbach. In 1963, he was baptized and became a member of St. Thomas Aquinas parish. He enjoyed whittling, cribbage, playing pool, hunting, and fish feared his name. From 1987 thru 1999, they were ''winter snowbirds'' in Yuma. A member of the American Legion, WA State Firelighters Assoc. and the Moose Lodge. He was involved in baseball and Boy Scouts. Young people held a special place in his BIG heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters; Georgia Edwards, Dolly Dyrness and Norma Talcott.
He is survived by his wife Mary, brother Jim, four children, Sue DeShiell, Bill Jr., Sandy Clark and Ed. Ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 20, at St Thomas Catholic Church in Camas. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am Thursday, Dec. 21 at St. Thomas. Inurnment will follow at the Camas Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Straub?s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas.
