Obituary of Kenneth E. Steinmeyer

Kenneth E. Steinmeyer Kenneth E. Steinmeyer, age 84, of Vancouver, Washington, passed away November 10, 2006. He was born October 27, 1922, in Washougal, Washington to parents, Ernest and Cecile Steinmeyer. Ken enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater on the troop transport vessel, the USS Arneb. He was discharged January 23, 1946. He returned home to Washougal, Washington and resumed his employment with Crown Zellerbach in Camas, Washington. Ken retired from Crown Zellerbach after 43½ years. In his younger years he had been a volunteer firefighter for the city of Washougal, Washington. Woodworking, gardening, reading, sports and a love of the outdoors were pastimes he enjoyed to his final days. Ken was preceded in death by his son, Steven Steinmeyer in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jackie of Vancouver, Washington; son, Gary and his wife, Mary, of Vancouver, Washington; stepdaughter Barbara Davenport and her husband, Jerry, of Vancouver; stepson, Ken Wooldridge of Vancouver; daughter-in-law Sharon Steinmeyer of Camas; five sisters, Lucille Bruley, Barbara Thurlow and Bonnie Copeland of Washougal, Washington; Delores Crodle of Issaquah, Washington, and Margie Pelletier of Vancouver; two brothers, Howard of Folcroft, Pennsylvania, and Lyle of Boise, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial open house will be held Sunday, November 19, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Washougal Citizen?s Center, 1681 ?C?
