HAROLD VERN STEVENS H. Vern Stevens, of Camas, passed away September 29, 2006 in Vancouver at the age of 71. He was born September 30, 1934 in White Salmon, Washington and lived in the Mid-Columbia area for several years before moving to Camas in 1942. He graduated from Camas High School in 1952 and married Rancene Clark on September 5, 1953. Vern served in the Navy for 2 years and after his discharge he came back to Camas and worked at Crown Zellerbach for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. John?s Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Crooked River Men?s Golf Club. Vern loved golfing, hunting, fishing and bowling. He also coached and umpired for Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold A. Stevens. Survivors include his wife, Rancene, at home in Camas; son, Brent L. Stevens of Auburn, WA; daughter, Renee D. Faulds of Monroe, WA; mother, Winnie E. Stevens of Goldendale, WA; step-mother, Bonnie Stevens of Vancouver, WA; sister, Jo Ann Meyers of Orcas Island, WA; half-sister, Leah Rich of Vancouver; half-brother, Mark W. Stevens of Brownsville, OR, and 5 grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be Sunday, October 8, at 2pm at the A.W.P.P. W. Union Hall in Camas. Straub?s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer?s Association @ 1311 NW 21st Ave., Portland, OR 97209.
