Obituary of Hilda Ruth Olson

HILDA RUTH OLSON Hilda Olson, a longtime Camas resident, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2006 in Vancouver at the age of 100. She was born December 5, 1905 in Hoquiam, WA to Albert and Tekkla Hillstrom. Hilda grew up in Oakville, WA where she graduated from high school. In 1925 she married Ernest Olson in Hoquiam and the made there home in Oakville. They moved to Camas in 1937 and Hilda worked as a homemaker. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Camas and the Women?s Auxiliary for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Hilda enjoyed weaving and working in her garden. She had been living in Vancouver for the past 2 ½ years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 1971 and son, Edmund in 1983. Survivors include her daughter, Carole Fredrickson of Oregon City, OR; grandchildren, Sonja Lindley of Aloha, OR, Brian Olson of Vernonia, OR, Susan Leatherman of Portland, OR, Robert Fredrickson of Wilsonville, OR; and 5 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be Monday, August 14, at 1pm at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. Burial will follow at the Camas Cemetery. Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.
