Obituary of Deane Ritchey

DEANE RITCHEY Deane Ritchey, age 83, passed away August 19, 2006 in Vancouver. He was born June 8, 1923 in Big Springs, NE to Jesse and Mary Ritchey. They moved to Holyoke, CO and then to the Camas/Washougal area when he was 16. Deane joined the Army and served in WWII with the 842nd Aviation Engineers. He returned to Camas/Washougal and worked at the paper mill as a Bleaching Specialist and Project Leader for the Camas Modernization Project. Mr. Ritchey married Joan Scott in 1953 and retired from the mill in 1987. He enjoyed fishing for steelhead, gardening, swimming and trips to Reno, Las Vegas and Hawaii. Mr. Ritchey was a loving husband, father and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan at home; sons, Terry of Point Roberts, WA and Kevin of Vancouver, WA; daughter, Shannon Steffens of Seattle; sister, Doris English of Washougal; 4 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Friday, September 1 at 2pm at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice.
