Obituary of Robert Louis Wheeler

Robert Wheeler was born April 5, 1934 in Vancouver, WA. He passed away July 8, 2006 at SW Washington Medical Center in Vancouver at the age of 72. He was raised in Vancouver and moved to the Peninsula July of 1987 after marrying Sally Baldwin of Camas. They met at her restaurant, the Tree House. Robert worked for the United Methodist Camp in Ocean Park as baker and cook for 7 years before opening a successful 2 star restaurant with his wife Sally called La Petite Maison. He entertained many with his expertise in making animal shapes from bread dough, a popular form of baking in France. He was also an accomplished musician from the age of 11 and played with many popular bands including Bob Wills and Gene Vincent.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Jacki Wheeler, Jenni Kanooth and Joelle Baker all of Vancouver, WA.
3 Step children, Cary Thrasher and Kevin Thrasher of Ocean Park and Shirley Shaffer of Vancouver, WA.
Brother Bill Wheeler of Madras Or. and ex-wife and friend Sally Baldwin of Ocean Park and special friend Margie West of Ocean Park.
9 Grandchildren and 2 great Grandchildren.
At his request he was cremated and no formal services will be held.
