HARLAN R. PENN Harlan Penn, age 78, passed away, Monday, May 29 at home in Camas. He was born November 4, 1927 in Coffeyville, KS. Harlan served in WWII with the Merchant Marines and when he returned home he attended Coffeyville Jr. College. He married Dorothy Whisler in 1948. Mr. Penn was a homebuilder in the Kansas City, MO area for many years. He moved to Camas, WA in 1970 to continue his craft building several homes in Camas. He later worked for a short period of time for Howard Lorenz Realty. Harlan finished his career as a building inspector and loan officer for Riverview Community Bank in 1981. He was an avid fisherman and boater, spending many fishing and boating on the Columbia River, as well as in the San Juan Islands. He also enjoyed elk hunting. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy, at home; son, Kenneth & Kathy of Raytown, MO; daughter, Susan Hines of Lees Summit, MO; and grandchildren, Chris & Sabrina Hines of Liberty, MO, Jeff & Michelle Hines of Norwalk, IA and Jeff Meyers of Raytown, MO. Mr. Penn?s family wishes to say a special thank you to Dr. Hagen and staff for their exceptional support and care. A celebration of Harlan?s life will be Thursday, June 1 at 3pm at the Grace Foursquare Church in Camas. Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.
