Obituary of Mary ''May'' Ballaseux

MARY ?MAY? BALLASEUX Mary ?May? Ballaseux, of Washougal, passed away Saturday, February 11 in Vancouver. She was 88. Mary was born on May 30, 1917 in Flensburg, MN to Andrew and Mary Jendro. She grew up in Minnesota and married Hiram Eckman in Little Falls, MN in 1934. They moved to Washougal in 1945 and Mary worked at the Pendleton Woolen Mill as a rewinder for 37 years. Hiram passed away in 1979 and she married Arthur Ballaseux in 1984. Mary was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas and enjoyed gardening, taking care of the house and yard as well as traveling. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hiram and infant daughter, Evelyn. Survivors include her husband, Arthur, of Camas; sister, Bernice Sawyer of San Luis Obispo, CA; step-daughter, Linda Hansen of Vancouver; sisters-in-law, Betty and Doris Jendro both of Washougal; 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held Friday, February, 17 at 10am at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas. Burial will follow at the Camas Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10am to 5pm at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. Memorial donations can be given to the Ray Hickey Hospice House @ 2112 E. Mill Plain Blvd. Vancouver, WA 98661.
