Obituary of Mabel H. Bjornsen

MABEL H. BJORNSEN Mabel Bjornsen, a longtime Washougal resident, passed away on Monday, December 5th at her home in Washougal at the age of 90. She was born April 11, 1915 in Norfolk, NE to Edward and Matilda Kahler Delfs. They moved to Colome, SD where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1932. She married Elmer Bjornsen the following year and they lived in Colome until moving to Vancouver in 1937. In 1946 they moved to Washougal and opened Elmer?s Grocery Store. They operated the store until 1956. Mabel then worked as a grocery clerk at the One Stop until she retired in 1978. Mabel enjoyed playing cards and was very family oriented. Her grand and great grandchildren where her greatest interest. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Cadd in 1989 and granddaughter, Jyl Cadd in 1997. Survivors include her husband, Elmer, at home; daughter, Connie Alexander of Washougal, son, Dean Bjornsen of San Diego, CA; 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be Friday, December 9th at 11am at Zion Lutheran Church in Camas. Vault interment will be at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery.
