ELAINE C. MEADOWS ELAINE WAS BORN MARCH 29, 1928 IN OMAK WASHINGTON TO NEWT AND CHRISTABEL LEWIS. SHE MET HER HUSBAND TOM DOWD WHILE WORKING AT THE CROWN WILLAMETTE INN IN CAMAS DURING THE WAR. THEY HAD FIVE CHILDREN; TOM, MARY, TIM, CHRIS AND BONNIE. WHEN TOM DIED IN 1963 SHE RAISED THEM ON HER OWN WORKING AS A WAITRESS IN ST. HELENS, OREGON. SHE WAS A STRONG, KIND, WISE AND HUMBLE PERSON SHOWING HER CHILDREN BEAUTY IN LIFE THROUGH HER LOVE AND SELFLESSNESS. SHE HAD MANY FRIENDS AND HER HOME WAS A WELCOME PLACE WITH HOMEMADE BREAD AND COFFEE. HER SON TIM WAS HER ANCHOR AND CARED FOR HER AND HER CATS -CALVIN AND HOBBS UNTIL SHE PASSED AWAY SURROUNDED BY FAMILY ON OCTOBER 8?. SHE WILL BE REMEMBERED BY ALL WITH LOVE. SHE IS IN HEAVEN NOW AND THE ANGELS ARE SINGING. SERVICES WILL BE OCT. 13? AT STRAUBS FUNERAL HOME IN CAMAS AT 1PM. SHE WILL BE BURIED IN CONCOY, WASHINGTON ON OCTOBER 15TH. THE FAMILY WISHES TO THANK SUSIE BJERKE, HER FRIEND AND CAREGIVER.
