JOAN ARTLEY Joan Artley, of Washougal, passed away October 5 in Vancouver. She was 69. Joan was born October 14, 1935 in Eston, Saskatchewan, Canada. She moved to New Westminster, British Columbia in 1945 and then to the United States in 1975. She worked as a bookkeeper retiring in 1997 and moving to Washougal. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, watching soap operas and gardening. She is survived by her son, Curtis Staples of Vancouver, B.C.; daughters, Leslie Conner of Camas, WA, Colleen Staples of New Westminster, B.C.; brothers, Glenn Newport of Surrey, B.C., Keith Newport of Chilliwack, B.C.; sisters, Mary Ellen Funk of Dinsmore, Saskatchewan, Geraldine Donaldson, Stoney Plains, Alberta, Patricia Garrison, Hillsboro, OR; grandchildren, Taylor and Whitney Staples and Emily Conner. Private memorial services will be held later in Canada. Straub?s Funeral Home & Columbia River Crematory in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.
