Obituary of Stella M. Essex

STELLA M. ESSEX Stella M. Essex, age 87, died September 26, 2005 at home in Camas. She was born May 14, 1918 in Council, Idaho to Grant and Dora Moore. She attended school at Council and New Plymouth, Idaho. On January 19m 1937 she married Lawson Essex and they moved to Washougal in 1955. Stella worked as teller and vault teller at N.B.C./Bank of America. During WWII she worked in a sawmill. She was a member of Grand Army of the Republic and United Daughters of the Confederacy and was a Den Mother of Cub Scouts. Her special love of family and generosity to all who knew her will always be remembered. She was always there to help others. Stella raised a big garden and beautiful flowers. She canned fruit and vegetables, made jams, jellies and pickles for her extended family. She is survived by son, Dick Essex and wife Kathy of Camas; grandsons, Greg Essex of Washougal, Bob Essex of Longview, Lyle Bakke of Portland; granddaughters, Carolyn Essex of Camas and Kathleen Nance of Port Angeles, WA; great grandson, Christofer Essex; sister, Marguerite Diffendaffer of Lynden, WA and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawson Essex and sons, Marion and Bob. A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 29 at 1pm at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9am to 5pm and Thursday from 9am to Noon at Straub?s Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Camas Cemetery.
