Obituary of Mae Margaret Sayles

MAE SAYLES Mae Margaret Sayles, 98, died May 31, 2005 in Vancouver, WA. She was born April 10, 1907 in Fargo, ND to Henrietta and ?Nels? Oscar Dahlgren. As a young girl she and her family moved to Washougal, WA. She married ?Mort? Mordecia Sayles November 16, 1929. They moved to Skamania in 1940 where he was the telegrapher for the S.P.& S. railroad. They remained in Skamania until 1958 and they returned to Washougal. Mrs. Sayles loved gardening and had a passion for bridge, once belonging to four bridge clubs. She was an accomplished seamstress, creative cook and loved to entertain her family and friends. She was a past matron of the Washougal Chapter of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mort, in 1970 and a grandson, Shawn Reid in 1988. She is survived by her son, Ward Sayles of Marysville, WA and a daughter, Romelle Reid and son-in-law Rich Reid of Stevenson, WA; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; her brother Roy Dahlgren and sister-in-law Val and sister, Viola Cox both of Portland, OR. At Mrs. Sayles request, no services will be held. Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.
