Obituary of Harry H. Spencer

HARRY SPENCER Harry H. Spencer, age 98, died Sunday, June 5 in Vancouver. He was born April 9, 1907 in Du Bois, PA to George and Olive Whitmer. He was raised in Du Bois and lived there for 45 years while he worked in the clay mines. Harry married Jesse Still in 1937 and moved to Hershey, PA where he worked as a house parent at the Milton Hershey School until he retired. They moved to Bend, OR where they lived for 12 years until moving to Vancouver 7 years ago. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a member of Laurelwood Baptist Church in Vancouver. He is survived by his wife, Jesse, of Vancouver; son, Dean Spencer of Vancouver; adopted daughter, Kathleen Dunsworth of Du Bois, PA; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be Friday, June 10 at 2pm at the Laurelwood Baptist Church in Vancouver. Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.
