Obituary of Raymond DeBoever

RAYMOND DEBOEVER Raymond DeBoever was born December 6, 1915 in St. John?s, OR. He died February 25, 2005 of heart failure. He grew up on an 86-acre farm in Hockinson, WA and graduated from Battle Ground High School. He and his father then purchased a 140-acre farm in the Camas-Washougal, WA area, where he lived until his death. Ray married Mary Elizabeth Farnan on September 7, 1944. Dad loved working with animals, gardening crops, raising a prize herd of registered Holstein?s, strawberries, beef cattle, hay, and his favorite Belgium potatoes. Ray especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his good friends Delbert Carpenter, Fred Paulson, and his brother-in-law Bob Manary. He was an avid Portland Trailblazers and baseball fan, being an accomplished pitcher in his younger years. He enjoyed watching wrestling on TV and going for rides in the country. He is survived by his wife, Mary and seven beautiful children; daughters, Kathleen Zimmer and Christine McIvor; sons, Daniel, David, Joseph, William, and James DeBoever; granddaughters, Amy Zimmer, Joni, Jessica, and Kati DeBoever; grandsons, Brian and Danny DeBoever, Sean and Sam McIvor; great granddaughters, Ashlyn DeBoever and Karen Phelps; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be held Wednesday, March 2 at 11am at his church, St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas where he ushered and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. A rosary will be recited at St. Thomas Church at 5:30pm on Tuesday, March 1. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9am to 4pm at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas. Contributions can be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church. They can also be made to the Master Gardener Foundation or 4-H Leader?s Association: Scholarships at 1104 NE 149th St., Brush Prairie, WA 98606.
