MARGARET MARIE MILLARD
Margaret Marie Millard, a Camas resident, died at her home after a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, Feb. 10th surrounded by her loved ones. She was embraced by God knowing she was loved and will be missed by all. She was born November 6, 1924 in Bonnots Mill, Missouri to Nettie Indiek and John Keilholz.
As a young woman, Margaret and her sister Susie moved from Missouri to Seattle where she worked at Tweety?s Shoe Factory. She met Chuck Millard upon returning to Missouri while visiting her ill mother. Margaret and Chuck were married on November 12, 1946 in Jefferson City, Missouri. They soon moved to Camas where Chuck had grown up and still resided. Margaret worked at a restaurant in Portland for a brief period and then worked for Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill. She left the mill in 1948 to begin her family. Margaret was a housewife and mother until her death.
Margaret was involved in many community activities. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Fern Prairie Grange and volunteered her services for many years the Interfaith Treasure House.
Margaret is survived by her husband Chuck at home; sons David of Battle Ground and Ronald of Camas; daughters Linda Stewart of Kalama, Janice Carroll of Camas and Karen Gibbs of Battle Ground; sisters Rosalie Balkenbusch of Linn, MO, Sissy Thompson of St. Louis, MO and Susie Robinson of San Jacinto, CA; as well as 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Marvin in 1963 and brother Mike in 1997.
An evening vigil service will be Tuesday, February 15th at 6 PM at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, February 16th at 11am at the church. The casket will be open Tuesday from 10 AM until 4 PM at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas.
