JOHN HAROLD LAXSON, SR. John Laxson, Sr., age 87, passed away Tuesday, February 1 at home in Skamania. He was born May 25, 1917 in Salisaw, OK to John S. and Grace Orendorff Laxson. He grew up in Texas and his family moved their way west and ended up in Los Angeles, CA when he was 18. John married Lyda James in 1938 and served in with the Marines during WWII in the South Pacific. He returned to Los Angeles and worked for Lord Babcock Plumbing Supply until 1959 when he moved to Vancouver, WA. Mr. Laxson worked for Consolidated Pipe and Supply in Portland until 1971 when he moved back to the Los Angeles area and continued working for Lord Babcock. They relocated to Santa Ynez in 1984 and Lyda passed away in November of 2002. He moved back to this area a year and a half ago to be closer to family. John enjoyed gardening, cooking and was a member of the Community Church of Santa Ynez Valley. He is survived by his sons, John, Jr. of Skamania, WA, Donald and Daniel both of Vancouver, WA, James of Oak Harbor, WA; brothers, James of Seal Beach, CA, Eddie of Glendale, CA; sister, Betty Carol Wiggins of Texas; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be Friday, February 4 at 10am at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. Burial will follow at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR.
