REV. DAVID JAMES GARRISON
Rev. David James Garrison, a Vancouver resident, died at his home Saturday December 4th. He was 63. Rev. Garrison was born February 1, 1941 in Lima, Ohio to Ruby Dennis and Donald Garrison. He was raised in Dayton, Ohio and moved to Eugene, Oregon after high school to attend Eugene Bible College. He graduated from there in 1964 majoring in Pastoral Ministries. After graduation, he traveled throughout the United States, Caribbean and South America with the Revivalaires Trio. He and Carolyn Hart were married during this time and they spent the first six months traveling with the trio. In 1965 they moved to Roseburg, Oregon where Dave served as the Youth Minister. During the next few years they lived in many places as Dave served as pastor and director of Christian Education in Grand Island, Nebraska, Tajuna, California and Waimanalo, Hawaii. He served as pastor for the Bingen, Washington Assembly of God for 22 years and the 3 years at Lewiston, Idaho before his health forced him to retire. Pastor Garrison moved to Vancouver two months ago to be nearer his family. His church and church activities were his life but since moving to Idaho he learned a new appreciation for camping, fishing and the outdoors. But most importantly, he loved his family.
Rev. Garrison is survived by his wife, Carolyn, at home in Vancouver; sons David C. Garrison of Tampa, Florida and Daniel L. Garrison of Camas, Washington; daughter DaLynn R. Harrsch of Vancouver and one sister Gertrude Young of Sacramento, California as well as eight grandchildren. The Garrisons were also parents to two foster children.
