THELMA JO SLEIGHT Thelma Jo Sleight of Hillsboro, Oregon, formerly of Washougal, died in Portland on Saturday, November 6th. She was 82. Thelma was born in Billings, Okla. to Florence Hoopes and Paul Barnes. She was raised in Oklahoma and Hutchinson, Kansas. She worked for Cessna Aircraft in Hutchinson and married Harold Sleight there in 1945. They moved to Vancouver and then to Washougal where they raised their family. She worked for Pendleton Woolen Mills as a rewinder for 20 years. She then provided childcare in her home for several years. She loved to cook and loved boating. Thelma is survived by her children Shirley Toner of Gaston, Ore. and Jeff Sleight of Vancouver; brothers Vernon Barnes of Wamego, Kansas, and James and Robert Barnes both of Hutchinson, Kansas; sister Delores Harbaugh of Hutchinson, Kansas; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Gerald Sleight in 2000. Memorial services for Thelma Sleight will be Friday November 12th at 2 PM at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas, Washington.
