Elsie was a wonderful hard working lady who had great strengthes. She never complained about her own problems but instead overcame them head on! She was a wonderful supporting wife of her beloved husband Dick, who was a lucky man! I admired her greatly, not only for her wisdom but her understanding. Even though she carrried a heavy load herself, she was always concerned about you. I will miss our conversations and laughing together. God bless you Elsie, I will miss you dearly. Love, June Bryant!

Dear Mike and Family,
I was so suprised to hear of the sudden passing of Elsie. It is so hard to believe. In recent years it was so nice to see her stop by the store I worked at Christopher&Banksand I enjoyed visiting with her. It was always fun to remember her as my old kindergarten bus driver! It was even more fun to know that she was my mom\'s bus driver. She will be greatly missed and my thoughts and prayers go to your entire family.

Elsie was like the Mother I never had, I was 14 and she was my bus driver. She took me under her wing, and was there for me. She kept me sane through my childhood. She was such a great wonderful women. She was someone I knew I could go to when no one else was there. She was like a Katherine Hepburn.Very classy women. The last time I saw her I had a picture of her and I taken together. I keep it on my refrigerator, so I can see her smiling face. She was so proud of her Son\'s and Grandchildren. This is a tragic loss for all of you. Especially Alana spelling of her name I know I loved Elsie so much and I wish I would of known so I could have been there for her. She was so beautiful in looks and sole. We kept in touch all these years. My God bless her and her family. She is truly missed by me. She gave me so much and made me feel proud to be me.

Our deepest sympathies go to the Dickerson family. Elsie was a very special person. We will miss our driveway chats. I still look over to see if she is home from visiting Dick. We always waited until her arrival home before going to bed. I will miss our early morning chats, 5:00am, in the summers, both of us in our PJ\'s discussing whatever. Elsie will be missed by so many in the community.

Dear Mike, Randy,and family,
I was so saddened and surprised like many people, I am sure, to hear so suddenly of Elsie\'s dying. You cannot help but know that I always have had so much love in my heart for her.
She was all the things everyone will say to you over and over about her... and sometime soon, I will do my best to sit down and recall in writing some of the wonderful memories we shared...that will never be forgotten.
For all the things she did for others, she will by comparison be an unsong hero. She was always there jumping in and doing most for anyone that needed her.
As I grew up glued to her side, summer after summer, I saw everyday her love, to me of course, but to everyone she saw. It didn\'t matter who they were, she extended her love from a hardy hello on the steet that made everyone\'s day, to jumping to lend a helping hand. A visit to someone lonely or in need. Elsie was one of the most wonderful role model, in ways too numerous to mention.
We share so many of the same far away memories of our now distant childhoods. Mt. Norway and our two families living there, was so long ago, yet still so easy to recall. Elsie and my Mom,such enormously close pals. They shared every little thing in those simple isolated country days. I even recall enjoying helping Elsie change the sheets! The first time I saw Gretchen! All of us having a burger at the Holland!
Your Mom, was someone who made people just feel good. She was a spoiler. She was always thinking of what she could do for everyone around her.
Although, she\'d say to this day, she drove bus, because the money didn\'t hurt. She drove "bus", because she loved people. And..she loved kids whether they were teens or 5 year olds. I don\'t think there was a limit either, she found a way to include everyone that she squeezed into her endless circle of loved ones. It won\'t be just a few close friends and family that shall feel the loss of Elsie, she was Mom to generations with the community of Camas/Washougal. I know in all my life, I have never met someone like her. Not only was Elsie so special to those of us who were lucky to have her in our lives, she forged her own path in life. She lived her life based on her own inner unspoken convictions..She was from such a loving large family that she\'d learned life is about getting back the greater reward in giving. And she never stopped. From the moment she awoke, she was an unstoppable powerful force with a flock to tend...I never saw her waste a moment. If she could drive the bus, go shop for a gift for someone sick, while planning flowers to do for some young couple\'s wedding...for free, back to the afternoon bus, home to cook, call a friend,or a family member to see how they were, do the household chores working hard to uncomplainingly drop to sleep in an instant from using every ounce she had to share, that was the Elsie...we all loved. She always wanted me to ride her bus, so I got to a couple times, and even though I knew she was loved by all that met her, it didn\'t prepare me for the impact she had on the hundreds of kids, that said "bye, Mrs. Dickerson". Each one, she knew their name and often asked them how they were and asked them a caring question or a comment. Not like any busdriver anyone else ever had. Its\' always hard to realize someone is gone, but it is most hard for her, because she had such an energetc spirit and radiating warmth, and those will never leave. She\'s passed on to her community the best of all legacies. the example of how to share ones\' love. With Love, Deri

My thoughts and prayers will be with your family. I had just seen Elsie 4 days before her death. She still looked great and was interested in how my life was. That was the way I will always remember. I remember her as Mrs. Dickerson the most popular and loved bus driver to have. That was back in 1974. After all these years she still cared and remembered the students that rode her bus. We were her "kids". She will be missed by all who knew her.

I had Mrs. Dickerson as a bus driver during my early years of elementary school. I was so scared my first day of school, but she was the first face I saw and I will always remember her. She would dress up for halloween and when we would have a "Teddy Bear" day at school, she would bring extra bears with her and store them behind the driver\'s seat, making sure all the kids who got off of the bus had a Bear to share with the class that day. She was very caring and will be missed greatly. She touched many people in this community. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

Mikkee, Randy and both families, I am so sad and surprised. I just saw your Mom with Eileen on Thurs eating lunch. She had taken Eileen to the Dr and I had taken my Dad to the Dr.
I got my favorite hug and kiss and we talked.
We would meet at the Post Office so many times and have wonderful talks. There were times I\'d get a knock on the Jeep window and there she was SMILING and we\'d talk and talk.
She was a beautiful person in and out and I will really miss her and our POST OFFICE TALKS.
I understand your loss, I miss my Mom so much.
You know, your Mom had a big welcome up there in HEAVEN...I\'m sure one person was RICK, with a BIG HUG, SMILE and MANY LAUGHS.
Take care, and remember lots of LOVE, thoughts and prayers are with you all, Sharon Newberry Martell :

Mike & Dick & Family:
Elsie was my high school bus driver from 71-74.
She always took the time to visit wih this very shy and insecure young teenager who had just moved to Camas.
When I was a sophmore and junior, I mowed her lawn and helped with her flowers. She was my first employer. Elsie would always bring me something cold to drink and often a bite to eat while I was working in the yard.
I remember her telling me the story of the "Elsie" highway sign which sat at the top of the driveway and driving me home in one of the 50\'s T-Birds.
I am very sorry for your loss, and have not forgotten Elsie\'s kindnesses.
You are in my prayers;
Jim Heuvel

Russ and she always flipped quarters EVERY time they would see each other, and Elsie usually won the toss. They could pass on the street and both would start digging for a quarter.
Dick, Randy, Mike and family, we are so sorry for your loss. All of our lives are richer for having known Elsie.

Elsie has been part of my life for as far back as I can remember, her son Randy is one of my father\'s dearest and oldest friends. She drove me to school in the 3rd grade for the year while I lived in Camas. I remember her greeting me with a warm smile in the morning. I remember being a guest in her home on occasions and she always made me feel like part of the family. She gave me a beautiful pair of earings one year for Christmas that were very trendy that year in high school and I remember feeling her warmth and happiness when I adored them. She was always very sweet to my younger brother who I know considers her as his Grandms Tim also. The world was a wonderful place with Elsie Dickerson in it, she will be very missed. Love Always Keri Huston Harrison and Family.

I just wanted to say that I am so sorry to hear about Elsie. She was a great woman. She always made sure that she stoppped by my Dad\'s room Mr. Lang to say hello and asked him how he was doing that day. She also gave me great support when I was taking care of my Mom at home who had cancer and trying to see to my Dad\'s needs at Rainbow. I guess she had to go before Dick so that she can make a place for him with her in their next life.

She commanded respect, she was firm but kind. When I was young, I was in awe of her. That\'s not quite true. My whole life, I was in awe of her. She was truly a great lady.
