NORMAN ROBERT TIPTON
Norman Tipton, age 78, passed away Tuesday, August 24 in Vancouver. He was born October 6, 1925 in Grand Island, NE to Robert and Desdemonia Blanco Tipton. He was raised in Nebraska and enlisted in the Navy during WWII. Mr. Tipton married Olga Weber in April 1947 in Olympia. In 1950 the moved to Camas where Norman worked at the Crown Zellerbach paper mill as a painter. In 1973 he moved to Longview when he was promoted to the supervisor of the paint shop at the Wauna Paper Mill in Clatskanie. He retired in 1981 and for the past 10 years has been spending the winters in Yuma, AZ. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a sports fan and raised Beagles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olga, in 1981.
Survivors include his sons, Rod Tipton of Washougal and Lonnie Tipton of Vancouver; daughter, Carol Gifford of Camas; sister, Josie McAllister of Shelton, WA; brother, Bob Tipton of Washougal; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be Monday, August 30 at 11am at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. Visitation will be Friday from 10am to 5pm at Straub's Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery.
