Obituary of Marvin Fint Banister

MARVIN FINT BANISTER Marvin Banister, age 85, passed away Sunday, Sept. 5 in Portland, OR. He was born May 7, 1919 in Paisley, OR where he grew up. He joined the Navy and served during WWII. While in the service he met Ruth Sass who was also in the military. They were married April 15, 1945 in San Francisco. They made their home in Lakeview, OR and Marvin made his living in the timber industry. In 2000 he moved to St. Jude Specialty Care in Portland. Marvin was an old cowboy who enjoyed horses, the rodeo and playing cards. He was a member of the Lakeview Elks Lodge and the Eagles Lodge. Mr. Banister also drove the activities bus for Lakeview High School sports teams. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Washougal; daughters, Sherrill Balogh of Washougal, Marva Eberhard of Tualatin, OR, and Karen Allen of Milwaukie, OR; sister, Nisha Hadley of Pendleton, OR; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be Saturday, Sept. 11 at 1:30pm at the Elks Lodge in Lakeview, OR with a reception to follow. Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas, WA was in charge of the arrangements.
