JAMES C. HAMMILL James Hammill, of Camas, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 16, 2004 in Davenport, IA. He was 53. He was in Iowa with his wife, Pat, attending his 35th High School Reunion. He graduated from Assumption High School, Class of 1969. James Hammill was born January 10, 1951 in Davenport, IA a son of Phillip Thomas and Marie Matthews Hammill, Sr. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Brown on June 10, 1972 in Davenport. Jim was a Quality Inspector for Crown Cork and Seal Co, Portland, OR retiring after twenty years of service. He had also worked in previous years at PortCo, Vancouver, WA and in earlier years in Davenport for Ralston Purina. He had been a 4-H Live Stock Leader; coached Little League Baseball and was a volunteer fireman for District #9 in Camas. He was an avid sports fan, and had been involved in local baseball, wrestling, football and track while growing up in Davenport. He is survived by his wife, Pat of Camas; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Hope and Jeff Shermer of Camas; son and his girlfriend, Joseph James Hammill and Molly Hawkins of Seattle, WA; his grandmother, Maggie Hop Shermer; his mother, Marie Allen; brother, Phillip T. Hammill, Jr. and sister, Janet Sabel all of Davenport, IA. He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Tom Brooks. A Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, July 21 in Davenport. A graveside service will be Saturday, July 24 at 10am at the Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas. Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.
