Was surprised to hear of Martha's passing. She is from that tough German stock. She lived a life that had lots of adventure. She had good physical and mental health in her retirement. I hope to be such a strong positive influence on people as she was.

The Aspitarte's were some of our favorite neighbors when I was growing up in Camas. I remember Martha for her kindness, common sense, and sense of adventure and fun. My sympathy to all of you, Cindy, David, Tom, Ann, and the rest of the family. She will be missed by many, and we share your sadness.

Martha gave with her every word and smile. We met at Clark College where she returned to take chemistry after raising family. I met her husbands Tom and Ross separately at CRD as summer student and later made the connection. What lucky men they were to have had her. She was glad to have lived in Honduras and seemingly glad about most everything! I grew up a block away from her and Ross's house where she enjoyed the hummingbirds and garden. I often reflected on when we would bump into each other again and now I know. She did well!

Thinking of you, Tom, and all your family. I always enjoyed the pictures that you would post on Facebook of your Mom. What stamina, working in the vineyard. She lived a full life and raised great children. I hope your memories will provide some comfort as you learn to live without this wonderful woman!

Martha was one of those people that I always assumed would live forever. I so enjoyed running in to her on our morning walks, comparing notes and expressing concern about the little Christmas tree we planted together. She told me that the tree was her legacy to the park. I will do my best to care for it. Her smiling presence in the Osprey group will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Martha was so interesting to talk with. The last time I saw her was in January after one of our snow storms. I brought my snow shovel over but she wouldn't let me just clear her path. She was out there to clear it for the newspaper delivery. So we did it together and enjoyed the visit while we worked. She had so much energy and enthusiasm for life. I know she will be greatly missed.
