Wilford W. Schleif Wilford Bill Woodrow Schleif, 94, died Monday, February 27th, at Peace Health Hospital in Vancouver. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Rose Marie Ryf Schleif; a brother, Virgil Schleif; two sons, Larry Schleif and his wife Pam, and Ron Schleif and his wife Carol; and a daughter, Cindi. He had 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Superior, Nebraska, the son of Eric and Minnie Schiermeyer Schleif, he lived most of his adult life here in Vancouver, WA. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a millworker at Crown Zellerbach in Camas for 37 years. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for 64 years. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing house or peek-a-boo, cheering them on at baseball and soccer games, piano recitals and horse shows, always encouraging and supporting them in their hopes and dreams. He also loved to camp and travel, enjoying cruises in particular, and winter would find him and Rose with the other snowbirds in southern CA playing horseshoes and enjoying the warm weather. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 12919 NE 159th St. Brush Prairie, on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 3-5 pm. Donations may be made in his name to Bethel Lutheran Church. Straub's Funeral Home and Columbia River Cremation is handling the arrangements.
