Irma Hargrave
Irma Louise Hargrave died peacefully Nov. 13, 2016, in Camas.
She was born March 19, 1922, to Aloysius and Clara Lechtenberg, the fourth of five children. Irma graduated from Providence Academy at the head of her class and enrolled in Vancouver Business College. After completing her course, Irma worked in the office of her father's creamery. It was there she met the love of her life, Almar Waite Hargrave. They married on Sept. 10, 1946, after Almar returned from serving in World War II. They settled on a farm in east Vancouver in 1952, where they raised their family. Irma was devoted to her family; loved to sew, spend time in her garden and golf; and enjoyed dancing with Almar. After Almar's passing, Irma worked several years at the Camas Safeway pharmacy. Irma had an unwavering faith in God and loved attending St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Camas, serving as a member of the Aquinas Guild and Catholic Daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Almar; two brothers, Luverne and Gerald Lechtenberg; sister, Gladys Greenwood; two sons, Robert Hargrave and Joseph Hargrave; and great-grandson Nicholas Gustafson.
She is survived by her sister, Lois Mitts-Helt; sister-in-law, Barbara Lechtenberg; daughter, Jean Bob Morris; sons, Alan Mary Hargrave and Paul Donna Hargrave; daughter-in-law, Ann Robert Hargrave; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The recitation of the rosary will be held Friday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 324 N.E. Oak St., where the mass of Christian burial will also be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. Straub's Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of arrangements.
