I had much admiration and respect for Jerry Steele. He was a caring individual, and was a good teacher and musician. I also believe he had only the best intentions for his students and for everyone in the community. I played in his school bands for eight consecutive years.

My sincere condolences to the family. The loss of a loved one grieves the heart and words are never enough to take away the pain. However, our Heavenly Father knows your grief. As a loving and caring Father, He will be there to comfort and sooth your "broken-heart and crushed spirit". Psalm 34:18 . May you find comfort and hope in God's promise of a day when you will reunite with your loved one again. Isaiah 26:19 .

I knew him by Mr. Steele throughout my academic years in Camas. I played clarinet, flute and saxophone, and remember Jerry so fondly. Band was my favorite class and he was my favorite teacher. I have thought of him so often over the years of my life. It was a pleasure to read his obituary and to discover so many wonderful new things about this caring man.

Mr Steele was a wonderful man and teacher. He taught me to play the flute in band at JDZ and I also had him for math at CHS. He was always a fun teacher full of pep and laughing with us. I know he will dearly be missed. My heart goes out to his family.

Dear Family,
Our hearts are deeply touched by your great loss in Jerry's passing. It is our prayer that you are experiencing God's peace and comfort both now and in the days ahead.
Al and Jerry had been friends since they were 5 years old! They were in Cub Scouts and had the pleasure of going all through school together from grade school to Ballard High School and then on to college at Central Washington. To say they had a strong friendship, is an understatement!
Jerry left his mark & made an impact wherever he went! And he will not be forgotten!
We count it a privilege to attend his memorial service.
With our Love and prayers,
Al and Dorothy Clausen

I knew Mr Steele long before I spent 8 years with him as band and stage band director. My mother did day care and watched his two daughters Susie and Cathy. I think my years in band were some of the happiest time spend in school. Mr Steele encouraged me to try many different instruments starting with clarinet, then oboe then saxophone. Pep band and marching band hold special fun memories for me. After I graduated I would occasionally run into Mr Steele at the Moose lodge. He was always happy to see me and we'd reminisce about the years in band. I know he touched a lot of lives and furthered the love of music in many kids in the Camas school district. A lot of people are going to feel a void now that he is gone. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

My sincere condolences to the Steele Family for the loss of Jerry. I was one of his band students & took private saxophone lessons in the mid-60's while attending the old Central School. Jerry would have smiled to know that I played saxophone during my high school years, was a member of the State of Jefferson Marching Band/ Upper Rogue Symphony in Eagle Point, Ore. & passed that same E flat alto to my youngest son, Jeremy!! Jerry will be remembered fondly & truly missed!!
