CLAYTON HARRY SLYTER October 29, 1920 – February 5, 2016 Clayton Slyter, 95 years old, passed away on Camas on Feb. 5, 2016. Clayton was born in Tacoma, WA on Oct. 29, 1920 to Harry and Beryl Slyter. Clayton graduated from Grant H.S. before entering WWII in 1943. He returned home to work for the family furniture store in Tacoma. He brought his family to Camas in 1962 when he became co-owner of Swank's Furniture Store. He later retired from the Camas Laundry. Clayton remained a Camas resident until his death. In retirement, Clayton enjoyed spending time at his vacation home on the Puget Sound. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Camas Papermaker football team! Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kingsley; sister, Helen Culver and brother-in-law, Robert Culver. He is survived by his three sons, Michael Sandy, Jeffrey Claudia, Douglas Kathy; niece, Vicki Reinell of Napa, CA and four grandchildren. Clayton was interred at the Camas Cemetery on Feb. 10, 2016. The family requests that memorial donation can be made to Hospice Southwest @ 5400 MacArthur Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98661.
