Ted William McLean
"Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy"
Ted Teddy McLean, born October 18, 1948 in Portland, Or to Irene and Ted McLean passed away peacefully on December 29, 2015 at Kindred Rehab in Vancouver, WA. Ted is survived by his brothers Dan McLean and Dennis Burback, sisters Linda Graves, Diane Plew and Tami O'Bray, daughter Danielle Marie McLain, grandson Anthony William McLain and granddaughters Jasmin Mariah McLain, Alexis Marie McLain and Jenavicia K. Salazar.
Ted attended Jefferson High School in Portland, OR, class of 1966 and began a very successful janitorial service in Portland shortly thereafter. He was a hard worker whose specialized services were highly sought after. After many years in Portland he relocated to Las Vegas where he continued in the same profession, eventually procuring a job with the county where, after 11 years, he retired. Following retirement Ted moved to Seattle to be with his daughter and grandchildren.
Ted always loved sports. He played baseball in his youth and boxed, eventually becoming a Golden Gloves boxer. In later years he took up weight lifting and became a personal trainer helping many to achieve their personal strength and health fitness goals. He loved the outdoors and spent hours hiking the hills around Las Vegas encouraging any family that visited to enjoy the vast beauty that inspired him.
Ted was always an inspiration to those he met…he loved having philosophical discussions and even when disabled he was never heard to utter a negative word and greeted everyone with a smile. Ted had a unique and special relationship with all his siblings and a fierce devotion to his daughter Danielle and his grandchildren. They were the love of his life. He felt his greatest purpose in life was helping Danielle raise her daughters and cementing the very special relationship he had with her.
Teddy, you are loved and will be missed, but you are forever in our hearts.
