Obituary of Leonard Allen Millard

Leonard Allen Millard peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 in Tigard, Oregon. Born on April 16, 1934 in Camas, Washington to Charles Edward and Elizabeth Pearl Bain Millard; Leonard was 81 years old.
Leonard was raised in Fern Prairie, Washington on the family farm. He graduated from Camas High School and was inducted into the United States National Guard from 1952-1958. During this time he served six years in the Washington National Guard 167 Field Artillery Battalion located in Vancouver. He also attended Clark College and graduated with a business degree in 1954.
He was very active in the Fern Prairie Methodist Church where he served many posts and was Sunday School Superintendent for several years. In 1958 he was inducted into the United States Army and served his active duty at Ft. Meade, Maryland and Walter Reed Army Hospital where he was a Chaplain's Assistant. He was honorably discharged early in 1960 .
Leonard lived in Portland and married the girl of his dreams Enid Dorothy Marks of Lismore, Australia in 1962. They lived in Sydney, Australia for two years before returning to Portland, Oregon while Enid finished her studies as a Registered Nurse. When Enid became a labor and delivery nurse at Vancouver Memorial Hospital now Peace Health SW Medical Center they moved to Vancouver and lived the next 30 years of happiness together. Leonard was employed for 20 years as an inside sales and office manager for Carlson Sales, Inc. in Vancouver before retiring in 1998. He recently moved to Tigard, Oregon to be closer to his daughter and grandson.
Leonard is survived by his loving daughter Cheryl Millard-Nutt and his grandson Jakob Nutt both of Tigard, Oregon; and numerous nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Enid Millard in 1992 and son John Millard in 2000; sister Frances White; and brothers Clarence "Bud" Millard, James Millard, Charles Millard, Kenneth Millard, and Lloyd Millard.
There will be a celebration of Leonard's life with full military honors on Sunday, December 13th at 2:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Camas. Private interment will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Vancouver. Straub's Funeral Home and Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of arrangements.
