Obituary of Spiros Sam Gallas

SAM GALLAS Spiros Sam Gallas, age 89, a lifetime resident of Camas, WA, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015. He was born January 30, 1926 in Portland, OR. Sam actively served in WWII with the United States Coast Guard from 1943 to 1946. He also served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. He remained active in the VFW until his passing. In 1955, he married Caroline Reitemeyer and together they built a lifetime of love that encompassed family and friends. He also enjoyed flying, boating, & building model airplanes. Sam and Caroline attended the Zion Lutheran Church in Camas. Sam retired, after 45 year, from Crown Zellerbach as a Tugboat Captain; known as "Gentleman Sam". He is survived by his wife, Caroline; daughter, Robin Rob Wurzer; son, Jim Chris Gallas; 4 grandsons and 4 Great-Grandchildren: Richard and Trisha Paisley Wurzer, Russel Odin Wurzer, Sam and Lauren Wesley and Jade Gallas, and Tyson Gallas. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marian and James Gallas. Services will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church 824 NE 4th Ave. Camas, WA 98607. A luncheon will follow. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to, Susan G.
