Russell M. "Russ" Johnson July 20, 1926-June 16, 2015 Russ Johnson, 88, passed away on Tuesday June 16, 2015, at Sunnyside Hospital in Portland, OR. after a short stay. He was born on July 20, 1926 in South Bend, Washington to Felix and Ellen Johnson. His parents, wife Lou married 62 years and brother, Ron preceded him in death. Russ is survived by his children Steve and Sherry, both of Washougal. Russ worked over 30 years at Fort Vancouver Plywood before retiring. He built a house on top of a cliff overlooking the Washougal River and the Silver Star Mountain area. He enjoyed flying his 1946 Luscombe airplane out of the former Evergreen Airfield, and hiking in the Columbia Gorge with his family in his younger years. He enjoyed his dogs and cats throughout his life. Burial will be private. Russ' children would like to thank the neighbors who gave help and moral support in his last years. We are very fortunate to have these wonderful people in our lives. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements.
