Jeffra Lou Fishback Schultz-Andersen
March 2, 1945 – June 11, 2015
Jeffra, 70, passed away suddenly on June 11, 2015, at Peacehealth Southwest Hospital, after a severe stroke. She was born on March 2, 1945, in Ritzville, Washington, the second child of John J. Fishback and Ellen Elizabeth Bennett Fishback. The family moved to Washougal in 1946.
Jeffra attended Hathaway Elementary, Gause Junior High, and Washougal High School, where she graduated at the top of her class in 1963. She graduated from Washington State University in 1967 with a Bachelor's degree in Education, and earned her Master's degree from Portland State University in 1980. Jeffra was a teacher/library-media specialist in the Vancouver School District from 1971 until her retirement in 2003.
She met her husband, Bo Schultz-Andersen, who was an exchange student from Denmark, at Washougal High School in 1963. He came back to Washougal in 1969 and they married and moved to Denmark. After two years in Copenhagen, Denmark, they settled in Vancouver, Washington.
Jeffra was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and especially treasured time with her grandchildren, Payton and Max. She was an accomplished quilter, amazing gardener, fantastic cook, and consummate friend. Jeffra will be sorely missed.
Jeffra was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she volunteered with the pre-school program. She was also a member of Patchwork of Friends, Clark County Quilters, and PEO.
She is survived by husband Bo, son Steen, son Dane and his wife, Jackie and their children Payton and Max, also by her brother, John and his wife, Pat, of Sun City West, Arizona, her niece Libby and nephew Jay, as well as her Danish sisters-in-law Lisbet, Helle, and Jonna.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Friday, June 26 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 905 NW 94th St, Vancouver, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeffra's name to Messiah Lutheran Preschool. Straub's Funeral Home and Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of arrangements.
