Obituary of Dane Jacob Reister

DANE REISTER It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family and friends of Dane Reister share of his passing on May 25, 2015 at the age of 43. Dane was born in Great Falls, MT on June 23, 1971. A typical boy with lots of energy, Dane spent his early years playing Tee-ball and baseball, fishing, camping, being a prankster and enjoying family vacations in Montana and Idaho. He moved to Eugene where he graduated from Churchill High School in 1990. Dane went on and attended Lane Community College, then graduated from Western Oregon University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He started his Law Enforcement career with Oregon State Fish and Wildlife before joining the Portland Police Bureau in 1996. On September 23, 2006, Dane married the love of his life Robyn Walker in Portland, OR, and in 2009 and 2012 their two sons Kade and Jack were born. They shared their love of the outdoors by camping, fishing, hiking and exploring with their sons and dogs, Kenzie and Lucy. When they weren't enjoying time around a camp fire, playing in the woods or the view from Angel's Rest where Dane proposed, they were catching bugs in the backyard, riding bikes and planning the next "adventure" with the boys. The Pacific Northwest proved to be the perfect playground for them. An enjoyable day for Dane was reading the newspaper from front to back with a morning cup of coffee, cooking especially when he could dirty every pot and pan he owned, telling a story, playing practical jokes, making new friends, helping others and above all spending time with Kade and Jack. Those two boys were the highlight of Dane's life and everything he did revolved around teaching them, caring for them and protecting them. Another common theme throughout Dane's life was his selfless understanding and caring for others. He demonstrated this on a daily basis in all aspects of his life. Dane always took time to stop and chat or take that extra minute to get to know someone. He was never in a rush. Dane will be truly missed. Dane was predeceased by his dad Daryl Reister, grandparents Calvin & Agnes Reister, and Edward Kurowski. He is survived by his wife Robyn, sons Kade and Jack, mother Jan Jim Hahn, sister Michelle Kai & Tenn Ohmae, grandmother Margarite Kurowski, many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and four step siblings. A celebration of Dane's life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 1, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church 824 NE 4th Ave, Camas, WA.
