Ernest Yazzolino
Ernest James Yazzolino peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his home in Vancouver, Washington. Born on December 30, 1923 in Portland, Oregon to Pietro and Giovaninna Ciarlo Iazzolino; Ernest was 91 years old.
Ernest was a Veteran of the United States Navy who honorably served during World War II as a Parachute Rigger 3rd Class. He was a longtime fast pitch softball umpire in Portland and also worked as a ticket taker for the Portland Trail Blazers for many seasons. Ernest was a former volunteer of the Sellwood Community Center as a basketball coordinator and an honorary member of the Royal Rosarians of Portland. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Ernest is survived by his daughter Janet Keith Mills; sons James "Jim" Shelley Yazzolino and Stephen Erica Nimeth Yazzolino; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service with full military honors on Wednesday, May 27th at 10:30 am at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland with a reception to follow.
